MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP has taken another bold step toward innovation and sustainable agribusiness development by officially submitting a Letter of Expression of Interest to the National Coordinator of PATNUC in Yaoundé, applying for selection under the ASMI 003 program for Producer Organizations.

This move reflects MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP’s commitment to embracing digital solutions that enhance productivity, improve animal health management, and strengthen market access for its members—especially in its flagship sector: pig farming.

A Decade of Impact in Mixed Farming

Founded on 22nd May 2014 and registered under CIG No. NW/GP/001/14/15929, with Ministerial Homologation No. 00509 of 28th June 2022, MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP has grown into a respected agro-cooperative in the Bafut Municipality.

For over 10 years, the group has:

  • Operated on its permanent farm site in Mforya,
  • Built strong capacity in pig farming, poultry, crops, and mixed agriculture,
  • Empowered members with hands-on skills for self-reliance, and
  • Contributed meaningfully to the fight against hunger and food insecurity in the North West Region.

With members drawn from diverse backgrounds—including teachers, agricultural experts, and IT technicians—MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP blends experience with innovation to drive community development through agriculture.

Why ASMI? Embracing Digital Agriculture

In its application to PATNUC, MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP expressed keen interest in adopting two innovative digital solutions proposed under ASMI:

1. GAJO LIVESTOCK

This solution will enable MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP farmers to:

  • Access veterinarians and veterinary services digitally,
  • Receive expert guidance on livestock health,
  • Improve animal welfare and reduce disease outbreaks, especially African swine fever.

2. APMA (Agricultural & Market Access Platform)

Through APMA, the cooperative aims to:

  • Access real-time market information,
  • Connect with small sellers and buyers of livestock products,
  • Optimize pricing and expand market opportunities for pigs and other farm produce.

Beyond market access, these tools will allow MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP to:

  • Geo-localize its farm for better monitoring and traceability,
  • Use AI-powered disease detection to identify health conditions early,
  • Ensure timely diagnosis and treatment,
  • Reduce mortalities and increase profit margins for members.

Aligned with MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP’s Vision of Innovation

This initiative builds directly on MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP’s recent efforts to modernize its operations, including:

  • The computerization of cooperative services through MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP,
  • Introduction of membership passbooks and digital account software,
  • Strengthening of biosecurity in pig farming,
  • Continuous training and capacity building of members.

Applying for ASMI is not just about technology—it is about transforming agriculture into a smarter, more resilient, and profitable venture for rural farmers.

Looking Ahead

By seeking partnership with PATNUC under the ASMI program, MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP reaffirms its role as a forward-looking cooperative ready to adopt innovative tools that improve livelihoods, enhance food security, and promote sustainable farming practices.

As the cooperative awaits feedback on its application, members remain hopeful that this opportunity will open new doors for digital agriculture, better animal health services, and stronger access integration for MUHMFCIG/MUHMFCOOP’s output.

“Our past is over. The future is innovation, resilience, and community empowerment.”
