On March 5th 2022, the Farm Hall at Mforya came alive as young women, members, and aspiring members gathered for the 5th Girl’s Conference of the Mforya Uphill Mixed Farming Common Initiative Group (MUHMFCIG). Under the theme “Hands-on Practical Training”, the session was more than a meeting—it was a transformative field experience.
From the early hours of 8:30 a.m., the hall buzzed with excitement. The conference opened with the traditional cooperative greetings, followed by a motivational address from the Women’s Committee Chairlady, who emphasized the cooperative’s long-standing commitment to empowering women and youth through practical agricultural education.
Participants engaged in multiple farm-based activities—seed selection, planting demonstrations, animal feed formulation, and soil management practices. These sessions were led by MUHMFCIG’s technical department in collaboration with the project committee. The day also featured a mentorship moment, where seasoned women farmers shared success stories of how MUHMFCIG transformed their livelihoods through teamwork, financial discipline, and the Njangi system.
By the end of the day, several girls registered as new members, inspired by the cooperative’s success and the hands-on exposure. It was more than training—it was the planting of new dreams for the next generation of women in agriculture.
