MUHMFCIG Business Plan Approved for Co-Financing by the Livestock Development Project (LDP)

Following your application for the co-financing of your activities submitted to the Livestock Development Project (LDP), the Mforya Up-Hill Mixed Farming Common Initiative Group (MUHMFCIG) has received a favorable opinion from the Regional Preselection Committee of Sub-Projects (RPSC) of the North West Region.

The decision was taken during the fourth work session of the RPSC, held on November 10, 2021, marking a major milestone in MUHMFCIG’s journey toward professionalizing livestock production and strengthening agribusiness development in Bafut and beyond.

A Vote of Confidence in MUHMFCIG’s Vision

The favorable opinion confirms that MUHMFCIG’s business plan meets the technical, financial, and developmental criteria set by the LDP. It also reflects confidence in the cooperative’s capacity to implement impactful livestock projects—particularly in pig farming, poultry, and mixed agriculture—while empowering its members with sustainable income opportunities.

This approval recognizes MUHMFCIG’s:

  • Strong governance and leadership,
  • Proven experience in agropastoral production,
  • Commitment to food security and self-reliance, and
  • Alignment with regional livestock development priorities.

Project Cost and Co-Financing Structure

The approved business plan has a total estimated cost of:

One Hundred and Twenty-Three Million Nine Hundred and Twenty-Six Thousand and Ninety (123,926,090) FCFA

The financing of this project is structured as follows:

  • Subsidy from the Livestock Development Project (LDP) – to support core investments and capacity building; – 73,983,000 FCFA
  • Contribution from Mforya Up-Hill Mixed Farming CIG (MUHMFCIG) – demonstrating the cooperative’s commitment and ownership of the project; – 12,512,498 FCFA
  • Bank Loan from a Partner Financial Institution (PFI) – to complement the subsidy and own contribution, ensuring full project funding. – 37,430,592 FCFA

This blended financing model is designed to strengthen accountability, sustainability, and financial discipline while enabling MUHMFCIG to scale its operations.

Next Steps: Partner Financial Institution Engagement

At this stage of the process, MUHMFCIG has been officially called upon to:

  • Finalize discussions and decisions with its Partner Financial Institution (PFI),
  • Secure a credit agreement for the loan component of the financing, and
  • Submit the signed decision to the LDP to enable continuation of the co-financing procedure.

This step is crucial to unlocking the full package of support and moving toward project implementation.

Expected Impact on MUHMFCIG and the Community

Once fully mobilized, the LDP co-financing is expected to:

  • Expand pig production and fattening units,
  • Improve animal housing and biosecurity,
  • Enhance feed production and storage,
  • Strengthen veterinary care and disease control,
  • Create jobs for youths and women, and
  • Increase availability of quality livestock products in Bafut and Mezam Division.

These outcomes directly align with MUHMFCIG’s mission to drive income generation, strengthen food security, and promote professional agribusiness development through sustainable mixed farming.

Building Strong Partnerships for Sustainable Growth

This milestone adds to MUHMFCIG’s growing portfolio of strategic partnerships with institutions such as municipal councils, cooperative networks, and development programs. It reinforces the cooperative’s position as a trusted producer organization capable of managing large-scale projects for community benefit.

MUHMFCIG extends appreciation to the Livestock Development Project (LDP) and the Regional Preselection Committee for the confidence placed in the cooperative.

Looking Forward

As MUHMFCIG works to conclude arrangements with its Partner Financial Institution, members remain committed to transparency, diligence, and excellence in bringing this transformative project to life.
