Highlights from Committee Reports

The Women Committee Report

The Women Committee, composed of three active members, led remarkable community engagement and empowerment initiatives throughout 2022.

Key Achievements

  • Sensitization and Membership Drive: The committee conducted four outreach visits in the Mforya neighborhood, attracting seven new female members to MUHMFCIG.
  • Publicity and Promotion: With the support of the Board, they distributed branded items and food worth 1.4 million FCFA across five sub-quarters—Njimbi, Akoshia, Sweeh, Nibe, and Mforya.
  • Women’s Micro-Finance Initiative (“Njangi”): A rotating savings scheme approved by the Board raised over 300,000 FCFA weekly, empowering women to boost their small business capital.
  • Educational Workshops: Over 70 women participated in three major sensitization meetings on improved farming techniques, organic manure usage, and livestock management.

Challenges and Solutions

  • Limited logistics and funding for outreach activities.
  • Difficult terrain—need for an independent vehicle for the women’s unit.
  • To address these, more meetings were scheduled for 2023, and the committee resolved to seek external funding from the Japan Embassy and other partners.

Plan of Action for 2023

  1. Expand outreach and sensitization programs.
  2. Increase humanitarian and social impact activities.
  3. Provide micro-loans for women, IDPs, and persons with disabilities.
  4. Continue supporting women with HIV/AIDS and other vulnerable groups.

  • Piggery Rehabilitation: Floors were repaired using 10 bags of cement, improving animal hygiene and productivity.
  • Road Repairs: The farm access road was rebuilt to 90% usability, ensuring smoother transport of goods.
  • Farmers’ Training Program: A five-day training covered fertilizer use, organic manure benefits, cassava planting, and livestock disease prevention—attended by a large number of farmers.
  • Dry Season Corn Project: Successful harvest, drying, and preservation completed with high member satisfaction.

New Projects Initiated

  • Market Research: New market channels identified for products like garri, pigs, broilers, and cassava, improving member income.
  • Internship Program: Students from five institutions completed internships at MUHMFCIG, enhancing community knowledge sharing.
