2024 Annual Report Summary — Strengthening Sustainable Growth and Community Impact


Mforya Uphill Mixed Farming Common Initiative Group (MUHMFCIG), located in Mforya–Bafut, North West Region of Cameroon, proudly presents its 2024 Annual Report. The year marked continued progress in agricultural innovation, community empowerment, and organizational restructuring. Leadership and Governance Updates

MUHMFCIG successfully held elections to renew its Board of Delegates and Committee Members.
Newly elected officials include:

  • ANCHESAH Emmanuel Tamonkia — President
  • Tamonkia Will Aboshu — General Secretary
  • Che John Yah — Financial Secretary
  • Ngouni Valerie — Treasurer
  • CHANGEH R. Foncha — Technical Adviser

The organization also welcomed two founding members back into active leadership, ensuring continuity and wisdom in the cooperative’s strategic direction.

A major highlight of 2024 was the reconstruction of the Head Office, symbolizing MUHMFCIG’s new phase of renewal under the motto: “Our Past is Over.”


Revitalizing Operations and Expanding Production

MUHMFCIG successfully reintroduced its core agricultural and value-chain activities to the market.
Key operational highlights include:

  • Livestock — piglets, pork, and pigs
  • Poultry — a variety of birds and fowls, including local and exotic breeds
  • Crop Processing — cassava starch, garri, and water fufu production
  • Mushroom Production — including mushroom juice processing
  • Small Ruminants — goats and sheep
  • Fisheries and Gardening — sustainable aquaculture and vegetable production

Each active department was reviewed, re-equipped, and restructured to enhance output, quality, and efficiency. The farm maintained its position as a community-based agribusiness hub, supporting members and local farmers across Bafut and Bamenda.


Community Empowerment and Membership Growth

The year 2024 recorded steady membership engagement with 292 members (65 men, 208 women, and 19 youths under 35).
MUHMFCIG continued to champion gender inclusion and youth involvement, providing skill development, farm internships, and micro-enterprise opportunities to improve livelihoods.

Through internal “Njangi” savings groups and community outreach, female members were able to access micro-loans and strengthen their small agribusiness ventures, sustaining the cooperative’s core mission of empowerment.


Project Implementation and Achievements

2024 focused on consolidating past gains while implementing new value-driven projects:

  • Rehabilitation of farm infrastructure and animal housing
  • Expansion of crop cultivation areas across the 3.5-hectare farm
  • Increased investment in farm mechanization and organic manure production
  • Introduction of improved poultry and piggery management systems
  • Partnership strengthening with local councils, agricultural delegations, and technical advisers

These projects collectively improved productivity and member participation, enhancing MUHMFCIG’s visibility as a model of sustainable mixed farming in the North West Region.


Financial Performance and Transparency

MUHMFCIG’s financial health remained stable, with improved record-keeping and operational oversight by the Board and Supervisory Committee. The external audit confirmed transparency and proper management of funds.

The organization’s total assets reached over 102 million FCFA, reflecting consistent growth since its establishment. Budget proposals for 2025 aim to scale up production capacity, digitize cooperative management, and strengthen market linkages.


Challenges and Strategic Outlook

Despite impressive progress, MUHMFCIG faced challenges such as:

  • Limited financial resources for large-scale mechanization
  • Difficult terrain and transportation costs
  • Market fluctuations for agricultural produce
  • Need for improved water and power systems

To address these, the Board plans to:

  • Seek external partnerships and grants;
  • Install solar power and a borehole for sustainable energy and water supply;
  • Expand marketing networks across Cameroon;
  • Continue upgrading to full Cooperative Society status.

The cooperative continues to build resilient agricultural systems that prioritize sustainability, gender equality, and community development.

The 2024 Annual General Assembly reflected unity, growth, and determination. Members, partners, and local authorities all commended MUHMFCIG’s achievements and reaffirmed their support for continued progress.
